Welcome to Nature Nurture Shop

Beginning with film in my high school darkroom, photography became the most natural way for me to express my artistic passion. I am Kim, photographer of Nature Nurture Shop.

As a native of the Pacific Northwest, I have been inspired by the raw beauty of nature, spoiled by breathtaking mountain ranges, lush forests, the coastline, and pristine lakes. Four distinct seasons provide a vast spectrum of colors that are constantly refreshing themselves. There is never a shortage of subjects to photograph. Fortunate to travel beyond the PNW, you will see images from other countries as well including Iceland, Germany and Finland.

I enjoy the challenge of capturing striking color contrasts and small details in my photos. My hope is to connect with the energy of the subject or moment, never losing sight of its unique and personal way of deserving the spotlight. What you will see in my prints is exactly what I saw right down to the colors, the light, the movement, the feeling.

My composition is influenced by my second creative passion, interior design. In the moment where I look through my viewfinder and decide how to compose my photos, I imagine that what I’m looking at is already framed and hanging in my home as a true piece of art. This personal process sometimes means that I crop out an element that could ‘tell the whole story’ – because I like a little bit of mystery. Sometimes mystery is the most intriguing element of art and I want others to be able to look at my photos and imagine what it means for them personally, making it their own treasure.
